Napoleon, N.D. - The funeral for Johanna Horner, 84, of Napoleon will be held Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Napoleon. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m. at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon, with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Burial will be at St. Philip Neri Catholic Cemetery in Napoleon. Johanna Johs, daughter of John and Johanna (Schwartzenberger) Johs was born Dec. 28, 1922, southwest of Napoleon, near St. Anthony, N.D. She grew up and attended rural country school. Johanna was united in marriage to Anton Horner on Oct. 2, 1944, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, rural Napoleon. They farmed in the Burnstad area until retiring in 1985 and moved into Napoleon. Anton died in July of 2004. Johanna loved her home and was very active with her family and friends. Her faith and attending daily Mass were very important to her. Her greatest accomplishment was raising 14 children. She loved playing Pinochle and Bingo and going with her 7 daughters on annual shopping trips. In 2004, she moved into the Napoleon Assisted Living Center and loved it there. She was a member of the Napoleon American Legion Auxiliary and Past President of the Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Napoleon Golden Age Club. Johanna died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at the Linton Hospital, Linton, N.D. She was 84 years old. She is survived by seven sons and seven daughters, Jim (Deb) Horner, Littleton, Colo., Gene (Marcey) Horner, Wishek, N.D., Mike (Marge) Horner, Napoleon, Leo (Mary) Horner, Bath, S.D., Marylou (Daryl) Balerud, Bismarck, N.D., Monica Benzinger, Mandan, N.D., Gerald (Mary) Horner, Dawson, N.D., Kathy (Aaron) Zahn, Bismarck, N.D., Bob Horner, Cheyenne, Wyo., Trish (Brent) Levinson, Bismarck, N.D., Marlene (Gabe) Flores, Crookston, Minn., Dan (Mary) Horner, Jacksonville, Fla., Pam (Troy) Bitz, Cheyenne, Wyo., Janet (Phil) Sand, Bismarck, N.D.; one brother, Adam (Sally) Johs, Napoleon; one sister, Mary Weigel, Napoleon; 31 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Anton, her parents, 10 brothers and sisters, one son-in-law, Gary Benzinger, and two grandchildren.
