Born February 13, 1927, to Louis Willadsen “Lou” Berrum, Jr. and Marguerita Wilkerson Berrum, Rita Lou passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 11, 2017.

After attending Reno High School and the University of Nevada, Rita Lou married David F Evans and enthusiastically took on the challenge of being a rancher’s wife and started her family life on the Evans Ranch located in Long Valley north of Reno out behind Bordertown. .

Then along came the pride and joys of her life, her children, David and Edith (Edie), who were initially raised on the ranch.

Her Home Economics major served her well as she excelled in her culinary exploits, running a household, as well as working for many years at the House of Fabrics Store in Reno.

In her young adulthood, Rita Lou joined the Pythian Sisters, Calanthe Temple, to which she devoted so many years in ritualistic and community service. Her Pythian tenure included being elected Grand Chief for the Domain of Nevada.

She married Teague G. Walls, also active in the Knights of Pythias and was a longtime friend of the family, spending the last 40 years of their lives together.
Among her many community endeavors, Rita Lou served as secretary for American Legion Auxiliary Duby Reid Unit #30 and was deeply involved in Toll Painters where her many painted china creations were widely acclaimed.

Rita Lou was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, David Evans.
She is survived by her husband, Teague, her children; David (Donna)(Meridian, ID) and Edie (Reno).
