Anparo "Paul" Avila, 63, of Slaton died Aug. 29 in Lubbock.
He was born Thursday, Aug. 12, 1954 in Slaton to the late Fausto and Cecilia V. Avila. He graduated from Slaton High School and married his first wife, Margarita. He worked in many different industries, once even serving as an assistant chaplain at a prison in Navasota.
He really enjoyed carpentry, remodeling and making things beautiful again, his family said. He was a man of many friends, always sharing his life's adventures.
Survivors include his sons, Eddie and wife Anai Avila of Slaton and John Paul and wife Teresa Avila of Lubbock; a daughter, Edna Avila of Lubbock; brothers, Juan of Slaton and Mario and wife Margarita of Lubbock; a sister, Lupe and husband Frank Rodriguez of Slaton, and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his pal, Chuy.
A graveside service was held last Friday (Sept. 1) at Englewood Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials to Slaton Meals On Wheels, 130 W. Lynn, Slaton, TX 79364
