Lee Allen Getty, 87, of Numidia passed away December 25, 2017 peacefully at his home after celebrating an early Christmas on Saturday with his family. He was born September 27, 1930 in Franklin Township, a son of the late Frank and Helen (Bucher) Getty.
He attended Locust Township Schools. Lee worked at Magee Carpet Co. for over 30 years on the carpet line and where he was also a Union Rep. He also worked at Knoebels Amusement Resort for security for 18 years, Southern Columbia security for school events, and Brown Catering. Lee would work any extra job he could.
Lee enjoyed camping with his wife, and watching baseball especially the Phillies. He was a member of the Bloomsburg Moose, Footlog Rod and Gun Club, and the Valley Chemical Fire Company. Lee loved his family, his community, farmall tractors, sitting on his front porch, and a good joke.
Lee is survived by his wife the former Dorothy Myers, two children; David Getty and wife Laurie of Bloomsburg, Joyce Yanchus and husband Bob of Owego, NY, and two grandsons Stephen and Michael Yanchus. He is the last immediate surviving member of his family.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents as well as his brother Harold Getty and wife Pru, and sister Margaret Rohrbach and husband George.
Services will be Friday December 29, 2017 at 10:30 am at the Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa with Pastor Chris Dunlap former Pastor of Numidia Valley Bible Fellowship Church officiating. Burial will follow at Numidia Valley Bible Fellowship Cemetery formerly Red Brick Church.
