Our beautiful, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Karen Marie Powell Wadsworth, 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on December 18, 2017 at her home in Midvale after enduring a courageous eleven-year battle with breast cancer.

Born February 10, 1944 in Salt Lake City, daughter of Hyrum Ray Powell and Ila Marie Nunley. Graduated from Lincoln County High School in Panaca, Nevada in 1961. Later earned an Associate’s degree from Salt Lake Community College.

Married Grant Aveson Wadsworth on November 23, 1961. Together, they had thirteen children, seven boys and six girls.

Retired as a federal employee of thirty years, working at the University of Utah Army ROTC, the VA Hospital, the National Guard, and the USPS.

Enjoyed an array of interests and hobbies including competitive scrabble, book clubs, movie groups, continuing education at OSHER, decorating for Christmas, sewing, reading, hiking, and traveling. She was happiest spending time with her family, dear friends, and her dog, Jack.

Survived by twelve of her children, Hyrum (Louise), Torrie (Stephen) Norris, Teresa Reinacher, Heber (Shannon), Jason (Amy), Wendy (Meic) Schmidt, Raquel, Roxanne (Deon) Gledhill, Tiffany (Charlie) Copsey, Tim, James, and Chris. She is also survived by thirty-two grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and daughter-in-law, Heaven. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers, and a sister. The most profound loss of her life was her son, Frank, who died tragically in 2012. We can only imagine the happy reunion that is taking place! Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all.
