Stanley Robert Booker, age 88, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2017 at La Vida Llena Retirement Community.
Stanley was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Anna, parents, Walter and Maude Booker, brothers, Walter, John and Donald and sister, Doris.
Stanley is survived by his brothers, James and Thomas, sisters, Dorothy Railey and Jean Meyers, son, Kenneth (Rebecca) Booker, grandchildren, Christopher (Lisa Palmer) Booker and Ricky (Amanda) Booker, great-granddaughter, Reagan Booker, as well as many other loving relatives and friends.
Stanley was born in Terre Haute, IN and grew up in the Harrison, OH area attending Harrison High School. Stanley married Mary Anna Campbell in 1953 and was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Stanley attended Ohio State University and received a degree in electrical engineering and was a member of ETA Kappa Nu and Tau Beta Pi engineering societies. After Stanley graduated from Ohio State, the family moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1958 where Stanley worked at Sandia Labs. Stanley was a registered Professional Engineer in electrical engineering in the state of New Mexico. Stanley was very involved in the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society serving as its President and receiving its Distinguished Service Award. Stanley was elected to the grade of "Fellow" by IEEE for leadership in the development of primary standards for time, frequency and high voltage pulse measurements. Stanley also annually provided volunteer work for the "Run for the Zoo" benefitting the Albuquerque Zoo.
Stanley loved and supported his family fully even as he dealt with health issues. Mary Anna and Stanley moved to La Vida Llena in mid-2016 where they met many new friends and appreciated the staff’s kind help and assistance thru various health issues. Stanley, along with his wife, Mary who passed 11 days earlier, will be forever missed by all who knew them and whose lives that they touched.
Services for Stanley and Mary Anna will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Young Funeral Home in Ross, Ohio. They will be buried in the Venice Cemetery in Ross, Ohio.
