SILVER CREEK BUSINESSMAN PASSES AWAY

SILVER CREEK, April 28 -- Gordon L. Weeks, a prominent resident of this village, died suddenly at the Citizens' club, Saturday afternoon. Death was due to apoplexy. Mr. Weeks was in his usual health, when he left his home shortly after noon. Mr. Weeks was 77 years of age. He was graduated from Albany Normal college, and in 1868 took charge of the Silver Creek schools.
He remained here five years and subsequently became principal of the schools of Salamanca, Ripley and Angola. He then returned and had made this village his home. Many years he conducted the flour and feed mill near his residence on Main street. Mr. Weeks had always been connected with the educational interests of the village, having served on the school board 35 years, and much of that time as its president. For several terms he was president of the village.
He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. John C. Armstrong, of Pennsylvania street, Buffalo.
The funeral service will be held at the family home, Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, the Rev. C. H. Dudley officiating. Burial will be made in Glenwood cemetery.
