Walter was born in Madison, Indiana and grew up in Jeffersonville Indiana. He attended Thomas Jefferson School, Jeffersonville, St. Anthony School in Clarksville, Jeffersonville High School in Jeffersonville, IN., and Lanphier High School in Springfield, IL. He entered the United States Air Force. His military records indicated he had achieved the rank of Sargent and worked in Ground Equipment Repair and Gasoline Engine Repair. He served 5 yrs., 6 months, and 1 Day in the United States Air Force. His DD214 indicated he was Type O blood.
He enjoyed geneaology and done DNA testing on Ancestry.com for future generation Robertsons. He made his home in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and worked for Central Maloney for 34 yrs as a superintendent till his retirement in August 2011. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Walter is survived by his wife of 37 years Brenda Shumaker Robertson; three sons; Walter Scott (Michele), William Sean (Shelly), and Kristopher Paul (Jackie) Robertson; and step daughter Kelly (Robert) Blakley. He is also survived by stepmother Betty Jane Robertson, surviving siblings are Brenda Laurik, Janet (James) Gibson, Doretta Kilgore, Patty (Kevin) Lee, Peggy Kilgore, Anthony (Deborah) Maranto, Gilbert (Billie) Robertson, Jr., Mary (Frank) Cahill, and Brian (Jane) Robertson. He had 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

He is proceeded in death by parents Gilbert Rex Robertson and Betty Joan Hammond Jackson; sibling; Beverly Ann Jackson, Rex Lee Robertson, and Judy Gail Smith and a stepson, Kevin Neal.

His service will be at Legacy Funeral Home, 921 Main St., Jeffersonville, IN. on Saturday, Jan 6, 2018. Visitation will be 9 am till time of service at 11 am. with military taps and flag ceremony. Burial will take place at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
