Mrs. Mary Alice Rigg, 75, widow of the late Sidney Rigg, for years assessor of Center township, died at her home in Blue Island, Ill., Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. Two weeks ago Mrs. Rigg came to Valparaiso for a visit with her sister, Mrs. Herman Fromuth and while here was stricken. Her health had been delicate for the past year. Her condition remained unchanged and on Monday she expressed her desire to be taken home. Her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Franklin Rigg accompanied her home.
Mary Alice Mitchell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Mitchell, was born in Warsaw, Illinois on June 29, 1856. She was married to Mr. Rigg in Chicago in '75 and the family for many years resided in Valparaiso at the corner of Garfield and Wood streets. They removed to Illinois about six years ago.
Surviving are two sons, Franklin, with whom she resided, Harry Rigg, Blue Island, two grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Ohma Fromuth, Valparaiso, Caroline White, Los Angeles; Mrs. Dora Morton, Seattle; two brothers, Alfred Mitchell in Texas and Argustus Mitchell in Klondike.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, from the LePell Funeral Home, Rev. C. M. Small officiating with burial in Fleming cemetery.
