James "Jim" Rodney Carr of Yucaipa, California, formerly of Steelville, Missouri passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017 in California at the age of 82 years and 4 days. Jim was born December 13, 1935 in Cook Station, Missouri to Walter Irwin Carr and Elsie Carr, nee Adams.

While serving in the U.S. Air Force, Jim met his future bride, Elizabeth "Liz" Newman, who was also in the U.S. Air Force. They were united in marriage on February 17, 1957 at Travis Air Force Base in California and to this union three sons were born. Jim served honorably in the Air Force for thirty years until his retirement in 1974. During his service, he was a flight engineer flying seventy-two combat missions in Vietnam. He was a member of the VFW American Legion of Jefferson City, MO. Jim attended the Baptist church in earlier years. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Glen Carr and wife Wanda, Kermit Carr and wife Ellenor and Calvin "Chink" Carr; two sisters, Virginia Norris and husband Ted and Leota Land and husband Bob; and brother-in-law, Larry Garms.

The Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Carr Cemetery. The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
