Genevieve Jackson passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2006. She was born on March 30, 1911 in Alva, OK to Edna (Lewis) and Erwin Searles, the second of five children. At the age of three the family moved to Wheatland, WY where they homesteaded. She married V.C. Jackson there on April 17, 1929 and her three children were born there. In 1939 they moved to Longmont, CO. In 1949 they moved to Glasgow, MT. She worked as a housekeeper for many years for the Dr. Gregory family, the Charles Brocksmith family and the Brayko's at the Bell Motel. She worked at the Campbell Lodge in the laundry for a time before going to work at the Deaconess Hospital, where she worked for over twenty years in housekeeping, retiring at the age of 78. She and V.C. were custodians at the First National Bank and MDU offices for many years.
Jenny loved working outside and raised a large garden at their cabin at the lake and at her home in town. She also raised beautiful flowers. She raised her last garden at age 88. She was death on weeds and dandelions. Those little hands must have picked thousands. She loved being at the lake and fishing. She made melt in your mouth breads and pastries.
She was preceded in death by her husband V.C of 73 years in 2001, one brother Emmett Searles, two sisters, Julia Spangler and Irene Treat, two grandsons; Erwin (Butch) Jackson and Mark Adler, and one great granddaughter Kayleen Franzen.
