Jimmie Juanell Kitchen Brown, 81, of Amarillo, TX passed from this life on Monday, December 18, 2017, with her loving family by her side.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Schooler Funeral Home's Brentwood Chapel, Amarillo, TX, with Jeff Messer officiating. A private family burial service was held at Dumas Cemetery, Dumas, TX. Arrangements by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

Juanell was born on March 19, 1936 in Shep, TX, to Erman and Nola B. Kitchen. She grew up in the Dumas, TX area and married her sweetheart Billy Ray Brown on May 1, 1956 in Clayton, NM. Bill and Juanell lived in Dumas for many years and raised three children there. Bill and Juanell were married for 61 wonderful years. During this time, Juanell worked as a telephone operator and then as secretary at Calvary Baptist Church, the church they attended regularly. Juanell was a strong Christian woman and shared her faith and belief with her family and friends.

After moving to Amarillo in 1982, Juanell went to work as church secretary at Southlawn Baptist Church where they attended. After her retirement, Bill and Juanell were both active volunteers at BSA Hospice. Bill and Juanell were members at Second Baptist Church in Amarillo at her passing.

Juanell was blessed with a fun spirit and had a great sense of humor and loved laughter. Even up until her last days here on earth, she was saying and doing things to get her family to smile and laugh. Called Nell, Mom and Granny, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. The loves of her life were her devoted husband, Bill; her three children, her 6 grandchildren and her 2 great grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her father, Erman Kitchen; her mother, Nola B. Lewallen Kitchen; a sister, Linda Kay Alexander; and a brother, Donald Wayne Kitchen.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Billy Ray Brown of Amarillo; daughter, Susan Brown and Judy Madura of Lubbock; son Mike Brown and wife Stacey of Amarillo; daughter Karen Jeffers and husband Paul of Amarillo. Grandchildren- Benjamin and Aiden Madura of Lubbock; Andrew Brown and wife Niki of Dallas; Matthew Brown and wife Zoey of Amarillo; Emily Jeffers and Makenna Jeffers of Amarillo. Two great grandchildren: Sophie and Gunner.
