David Vance Amundsen, 81, of International Falls, MN, died on Monday, December 18, 2017 at Rainy Lake Medical Center in International Falls. Dave was born March 30, 1936 in Milwaukee, WI to parents Vernon and Harriet (Vance) Amundsen.

He grew up in Racine, WI and was a proud graduate of Park High School. He received his Undergraduate Degrees in Biology and Education from the University of Wisconsin, Sevens Point. His Master's Degree in Chemistry and Physics was taken at the University of Wyoming, 1966. A second Bachelor's Degree in Math was received from Bemidji State University in 1986.

Dave was united in marriage to JoAnne Vedaa on July 6, 1963.
He was a high school teacher and coach at Indus High School from 1960 to 1994.

Dave was passionate about golf, fishing, and bow and rifle hunting. He valued his family above all; he was a great husband, father, and grandfather. Some of his heroes were the students, hockey players, and volleyball players who made him feel like a brilliant teacher and coach. Dave retired from teaching in 1994. He enjoyed having more time for golf here and in Florida, and living part of the summers at his cabin on Red Gut Bay, Canada.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Karen Tisland; and granddaughter, Maria Tisland.

Dave is survived by his wife of 54 years, JoAnne Amundsen; son, David Eric Amundsen (Amy); grandchildren, Jordon, Logen, Owen; and brother, Daniel Amundsen (Judy).

Interment will be at the Indus Cemetery, in Indus.
