Pioneer resident of California. Daughter of Vicente and Erolinda (de Cota) Yorba. The city of Yorba Linda, California, is named for her father's family. Her great-grandfather was Jose Antonio Yorba, a soldier who accompanied Franciscan Padre Junipero Serra, founder of the California Missions. Her mother's family once owned the vast Ballona Rancho in what is now Culver City, California. Wife of Los Angeles wine merchant and businessman Lorenzo Pelanconi, they married in Los Angeles on November 23, 1909. From her obituary in the Los Angeles Times, June 23, 1980:

"PELANCONI, Martina Yorba, born April 2, 1879; beloved sister of Mary Vejar. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, 7:30 p.m., at St. Ambrose Church. Graveside service Thursday, 10 a.m. in Calvary Cemetery. Donations to your favorite charity would be appreciated."
