Homer A. Parker, age 87, of Atlanta, Texas went to be with the Lord Saturday, December 16, 2017 in a local nursing home.
Homer was born October 1, 1930 in Huffines, Texas to Hiram and Gladys Wall Parker. He was a member of the Plumbers Local # 68, and Pentecostal by faith. He enjoyed spending time four-wheeler riding, working outdoors, and was an avid sports fan. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Melba Williams Parker; his second wife, Kathryn Parker; daughter, Joycelyn Parker; brother, Olen Parker; sister, Juanita Wall; and his parents.
He is survived by his son, Gene Parker and wife Brenda of Huntsville, Texas; daughter, Gwen Griekspoor and husband Dan of Atlanta, Texas; two step-sons, Ira Lee Young,III of McLeod, Texas, Michael Young of McLeod, Texas; brother, Charles Parker of McLeod, Texas; sister, Betty Saulter of Pasadena, Texas; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Hanner Funeral Service.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, December 20, 2017 in the Hanner Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jeff Story officiating.
Interment will be in Huffines Cemetery.
