Paul L. Nell

York, Paul L. Nell, 92, passed away on December 16, 2017 at Country Meadows Nursing Home in York. He was the loving husband of Dorothy M. (Yohe) Nell, together they shared over 69 years of marriage.

Paul was born on July 27, 1925 in Franklintown, and was the son of the late Eugene and Pauline (Rider) Nell.

He spent most of his life as a residential contractor, having owned his own company, Paul L. Nell Builder. He was an ordained minister in the Dunkard Brethren Church for 25 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed farming and gardening, traveling with his family and friends, and volunteering for several missions. He was a long time member of the Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren. His first priority in life was always his Lord and Savior, but a very close second was his wife and family.

In addition to his wife, Dorothy, Paul is survived by his daughters, Glenda Martin and husband, Arthur of York, Dorene Ehrhart and husband, Spurgeon of York, and Jill Beck and husband, James of York; his son, P. Kevin Nell and wife, Sydney of Spring Grove; 10 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. He was also survived by brothers, Harry Nell, Fred Nell, Wayne Nell, and Charles Nell; sisters, Janice Godfrey and Joan Grim; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Vernon Nell and Ernest Nell; and sisters, Elaine Martin and Vivian Sheaffer.

A funeral service in celebration of his life will held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, 9002 Orchard Rd. Spring Grove, with Elders Ken Nell, Robert Yohe, and Frank Shaffer officiating. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery. Viewings will be held on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 175 N. Main St. Spring Grove, and on Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.
