DIED
At Yellow Springs, Blair County, of Whooping cough and Inflamation of the Lungs, G. W. Hancuff, Jan. 16, 1864, aged 2 years and 3 months.
He was a very sweet child, and it was hard for his stricken mother to part with him: -- But Jesus says, “Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of God.”

“Forbid them not,” oh, parent dear,
These words to you how sweet;
Your stricken heart need know no fear,
Since love like this doth greet.

“Forbid them not” – although bereft,
Fond nature oft will sigh,
Those cheering words to you are left,
Your faith in God to try.

“Forbid them not” – your cherub bright
Now dwells with God on high,
There robed in garments pure and white,
In tears no more he’ll sigh.

“Forbid them not” – me thinks you say,
I would not if I could,
Rob him of glory bright as day,
And Heavens life giving food.
