Steve was born in Teges, Kentucky. He was a 28 year Army Veteran, 82 Airborne Special Forces Green Beret. He served a tour in Korea, Vietnam and Dominican Republic. Received the Bronze Star from Vietnam, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Serve Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Army Occupation Medal (Japan), Korean Service Medal, United Nations Offensive, United Nations Defensive, CCF Intervention. After retiring from Fort Bragg, NC, he worked for Kelly Springfield Tire Co. and retired from there after 19 years.
He was an active member of the Retired Military Association of Fayetteville, NC. Steve enjoyed growing vegetables in his garden, fishing, NASCAR, WWE Wrestling, eating Oysters, playing Pinochle and bowling at Lafayette Lanes and Fort Bragg.
Steve is preceded in death by his wife, Maxine E. Bishop and all his siblings, five brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by sons, Randolph M. Bishop Sr. (Dianne), Steve G. Bishop, Jr. (Cindy Stelck) and Jonathan W. Bishop; two grandsons, Randolph M. Bishop, Jr. (Heather), Darby L. Bishop (Joy); four, great granddaughters, one great grandson and three great great granddaughters.
