Frank W. Johns, age 74, of Hayesville, NC passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 in Buncombe County, NC.

He was born in Fulton County, IL and the son of the late Sanford Edmond and Edna Elizabeth Leezer Johns.

Frank was a US Navy retired veteran serving as a Corpsman Medic assisting physicians. Mr. Johns served part of his Corpsman career during the Vietnam War in a hospital in Da Nang. He was a lifetime caregiver, upon retiring from the US Navy; he took care of his aging mother. Frank moved to Hayesville to own and operate a vineyard mountain home. He was a self-taught gourmet chef and baker. Frank was an excellent cook.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael Lee Johns and sister, Janice Jean Abbadusky.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judith Dee Johns; two sons, Edmond Robert Johns and Frank Wallace Johns II; one sister, Sandra Irene Boyer; and one grandchild, Megan Elizabeth Johns.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 PM, Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Hillcrest Assembly of God Church in Hayesville. Rev. Alene Mosteller will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the V.F.W. Post #10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post #96 and D.A.V. Chapter #73 and American Legion Post #532 of Hayesville and V.F.W.Post #6812. The military will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM, Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Hillcrest Assembly of God Church.
