Age 87 White Bear Lake Preceded in death by husband, A. B. "Bud" Engen; parents, Clarence and Eva Arvesen; and five brothers and sisters, (Dean, Bud, Paul, Connie, and Ellie). Survived by daughters, Barb (Russ) Betzler of Maple Grove, Kathy (Tim) Hermann of White Bear Lake, and Kristi (John) Stevens of Shakopee; along with seven grandchildren, (Erica Shirzadi, Jenn Semple, Tate Hermann, Adam Hermann, Rob Stevens, Anna Bergquist, and Nick Betzler); and seven great-grand-children, (Jack and Grace Semple, Presley and Tyler Hermann, Madeline Hermann, and Carter and Drake Betzler). After graduating from St. Olaf College, Helen spent over 40 years sharing her passion of vocal music through the training and directing of student and community member voices, both in White Bear Lake and at St. Olaf College.

Helen's and Bud's ashes will be placed together in the Columbarium at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi. A private family service, as requested by Helen, will be held in the Memorial Prayer Garden. Cards and expressions of sympathy can be sent to the family. Memorials to the St. Olaf Music Department or the St. Andrew's Music Department.
