William Norwood Bobbitt, age 91, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017. Born in Nash County, NC on January 21, 1926, he was the son of the late Willie Norman and Madeline Debman Bobbitt. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Martha Smith Bobbitt, his daughter, Ann Bobbitt Nolan, and his siblings, Eloise B. Riggs, Robert Bobbitt, and Marian B. Rollins.

A man of strong faith, William was a charter member of Englewood United Methodist Church, where he served in various leadership roles. He was also a member of 50 years and past president of the Rocky Mount Luncheon Lions Club, which recently presented William with the Jack Stickley Fellowship Award. William was deeply involved in the Rocky Mount Chamber of Commerce in the years following his retirement from Nationwide Insurance in 1992. He joined Nationwide in 1959, where his natural sales ability resulted in numerous sales awards.

William leaves behind to cherish his memory his son, N. Lee Bobbitt and his wife, Nancy, of Charlotte; grandchildren, Emily Bobbitt Fairbank, Courtney May, and Jordan May; his great-grandson Jet Fairbank; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Englewood United Methodist Church, 300 S. Circle Dr., Rocky Mount, NC 27804, with Pastor Terry Williams officiating. Visitation with the family will follow the services at the church. A private burial will be held at a later time at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Autumn Care for the nine years of loving service to William. He cherished the many relationships he formed there.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made in memory of William to Englewood United Methodist Church, 300 S. Circle Dr., Rocky Mount, NC 27804, or to the Rocky Mount Lions Club, P.O. Box 922, Rocky Mount, NC 27801.
