BRODE 02 Jan 1905 Mrs Philip Brode died at the home of a daughter Mrs Fred Adams at Hoffman's Mines on Saturday (31 Dec 1904). She was one of the oldest and most respected ladies of this area and had a large family, all grown to man and women's estate, and among the best of our citizens. She was for many years an invalid and suffered the amputation of an arm one year ago. She was known for gentleness and kindness of heart at her home in Hoffman. Her husband the late Philip Brode died in 1891 and she leaves the following children: Mrs Fred Adams of Hoffman; Mrs John Scalley of Eckhart; Mrs Conrad Nicol of Frostburg; FJ Brode of Vale Summitt; George & Philip Brode of Hoffman; and John Brode of Cumberland. She was a member of the St Michaels Catholic church where the funeral will be held.

Memorial and grave site are well kept. Her memorial is in the same plot as Frederick Adams (MEMORIAL ID 92973105), occupying one side of a four sided granite obelisk, on which Frederick is shown.
