Salem - Richard "Dick" Hawkins, age 88, passed away on December 6, 2017 at Salem Hospital from a sudden injury.
Dick is survived by his wife, Mary; brother, Gerry; sister, Carol; sons: Tom, Chuck, Fred, Ken and John; daughters: Sheila, Darlene, Lisa and Kathy; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Dick was born May 13, 1929 in Akron, Ohio, to Fred and Marge Hawkins. He graduated from St. Mary' s High School where he met his loving wife, Mary, of 67 years.
Dick is a Veteran of the Korean War and served on the USS Marquette.
Dick began his professional career at Nationwide Insurance in Akron, Ohio as a door to door salesman. He continued his growth within Nationwide with various opportunities in Tennessee, Oregon and California. He retired as a Claims Executive after 33 years.
Service will be held Monday, December 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Salem, Oregon and will be interred at the Veterans Memorial at Restlawn Cemetary.
