Carlos Eugene Howell, age 78 of Sparta, Tennessee, passed from this life on Saturday December 9, 2017 at St. Thomas Highlands Hospital, after a long struggle with suffering a stroke nine years ago. Gene was born on August 28, 1939 in White County, Tennessee, to the late Fred Howell, Sr. and Ethel Cope Lowery Howell.
He was a former factory worker, carpenter and laid ceramic tile at the time of his stroke. He enjoyed raising game chickens, rabbit dogs and working his cattle. Gene was also preceded in death by a sister Marie Humphrey.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 30 years Carolyn Tallent Vinson Howell
Son: Randy Howell and wife Crystal of White County;
Two brothers: Fred Howell, Jr. and Don Howell both of White County;
Two step-sons: Terry Vinson and wife Dana of White County; Tony Vinson and wife Beth of Coffee County;
Step-daughter: Melissa Mace and husband Jeff of Holly Hills, Florida;
His Two grandsons: Chance Howell and Kendall Howell both of White County;
Nine step-grandsons; Six step-granddaughters; Nine step-great-grandchildren;
Four nieces and three nephews also survive.
Services will be Tuesday, December 12, 2017 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with interment in Old New Hope Cemetery. Gary Scott and Bro. Freddie Copeland will officiate.
