David Grove "Red" Stafford Jr
December 19, 1928 - December 7, 2017

David Grove Stafford, Jr., known affectionately as “Red”, was born on December 19, 1928, to David Grove Stafford, Sr. and Emily Gaiennie, and passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017, peacefully in his residence.

Born and raised in Alexandria, he was a graduate of Bolton High School. He continued his education at Virginia Military Institute and graduated from LSU and Tulane University Law School. During his law career he was a partner in the Stafford, Stewart and Potter Law Firm. Grove served on several boards during his career including: Civil Service Commission, LA Board of Ethics, LA Association of Defense Counsel (President 1981), and was the recipient of the Causidicus Award.

Grove was an avid tennis player, scuba diver and woodworker, but his greatest joy was sharing his generous spirit and love of life with those he loved. He was known for his quick wit and clever sense of humor.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Belle “Tita" Saint O’Neill; his parents; one brother, Graham Stafford; and one sister, Emily McNeely.

Grove is survived by his second wife, Claudia Stafford; his children, Belle Stafford, Grove Stafford, Beryl Stafford, Jimmy Stafford, Peggy Stafford Shires (John), and Lee Stafford; step-children, Trey Hughes and Kim Hughes; grandchildren, James Stafford, Emily Stafford, Isabelle Stafford, Serena Stafford, Alexandra Kammer, Belle Kammer, and Ava Harrison; his sister, Patty Daniel along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held in the chapel of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home on Sunday, December 10, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Graveside services will be held at a later date under the direction of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home.
