"Cordelia Courter, widow of James Herrick, died Tuesday at 10 o'clock at the Courter homestead, which was also the place of her birth. Mrs. Herrick had not been in robust health for some time past. On Sunday, April 8th, she sustained a stroke of paralysis, which finally resulted in her death. She was an intense sufferer during her late illness. Mrs. Herrick was a graduate of the Maplewood Institute at Pittsfield, Mass., closing her studies there in 1859. She was a woman of great intelligence, a great teacher, and a true lady at all times. She survived her husband about three years. Three sisters survive her, Mrs. John J. Dickenson of New York, Mrs. Henry Keller of Troy, and Mrs. Louis C. Holmes of this village and one brother, S. C. Courter, also of Cobleskill. Funeral services will be held at the Courter homestead, Saturday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. H. D. Hayes officiating and interment will be made in Rural cemetery."
