Info about the 9th Regiment, New York Cavalry [from wikipedia] was organized at Westfield, NY, and Albany, NY, Sept. 9 to Nov. 19, 1861. "M" Company was recruited principally at New York City, Rouse's Point, Troy, and Geneva, New York. It appears they fought in many battles including Gettysburg. It mustered out July 17, 1865, and honorably discharged from service.
