William Henry “Bill” Burges, age 83 of Seguin, passed away on December 4, 2017. Visitation will begin Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at McKeogh Hall at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church followed by a memorial service 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church with The Reverend Alex Easley officiating. Bill was born on May 15, 1934 in Seguin, Texas to Richard Joseph Burges, Jr., and Helen (Bartholomae) Burges. Bill grew up in Seguin and was a 1952 graduate of Seguin High School, and a 1956 graduate of University of Houston College of Pharmacy where he received his B.S. in Pharmacy and State of Texas license as a Pharmacist. In 2006 he received a Texas Board of Pharmacy 50 Year Certificate, and continued to work as a Pharmacist until 2015. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He married Margaret Lou Watson at Central Baptist Church in Itasca, Texas. Bill will be remembered as a longtime pharmacist at the Burges Drug Store on the Courthouse Square, and later at Professional Pharmacy in Seguin. Bill was an active member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry, sang in the choir, and served as a Lay Reader. He was a long time member of the Seguin Rotary Club.  He was an enthusiastic member of the over 40 softball team called the Possums, who celebrated after each game at The Oak. Bill is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard Joseph Burges III. Survivors include his loving wife Margaret Lou Burges; daughter, Margaret Cooper and husband, Glenn Cooper; one granddaughter Avery Lynne Taylor; sister-in-law, Arlene Tschoepe Burges; nephew, Richard Joseph Burges IV; other loving family members and many friends. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 201 E. Nolte, Seguin, Texas, 78155.
