KENYON -- The funeral for Ray Eugene Ades was Monday at Holden Lutheran Church in Kenyon, with the Rev. Michael Lockerby officiating. Burial was in Holden Cemetery.

Mr. Ades, 74, of Kenyon, died Thursday (March 22, 2007) at Northfield Hospital.

Born in Montazuma, Iowa, he moved at an early age with his family to South St. Paul, where he attended school. He served in the Marine Corps from 1951 to October 1953. On July 8, 1953, he married Ruby Stoerzinger. He worked as a steamfitter/welder at Armour in South St. Paul from 1953 to 1973. After retiring from Armour, he moved his family to rural Dennison to pursue his career as a dairy farmer. He retired from farming in 1994, and the couple moved to Kenyon in 1995. He led an adventurous life, and enjoyed scuba diving, motorcycles, piloting small planes, doing judo, water skiing, camping, hunting and fishing. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Renae (Jeff) Jacobson and Robin (Kevin) Langemo, both of Kenyon; a son, Ray (Katy) of Kenyon; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Nancy) of Lonsdale, Minn.; and a sister, Wunita (Stan) Mach of Michigan. He was preceded in death by a daughter, a great-grandson, five brothers and a sister.
