From obituary posted Nov 4, 2016 by Schnider Funeral Home: "Jane attended schools in Great Falls, graduating from Great Falls High School in 1940. A lifetime resident of Great Falls, except for a brief time when she was employed in the Boise, Idaho office of Mountain States Telephone Co. She transferred to the Great Falls office to again be with her family and to fulfill a dream of helping her father build a family home. She retired after many years with the company. Mary Jane married Thomas P. Newcomb in 1970. Their marriage was filled with happiness, companionship, and many years of service to family. He preceded her in death in June 1994. She enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, fishing, traveling, and her hobby of water and oil painting."

Mary Jane clearly had a generous and caring nature. She cared for her elderly mother and her disabled sister.
Her generosity and affection for her hometown resulted in 13 organizations in the area receiving $49,230 each from her estate. Per her estate plan, Benefis Peace Hospice, St. Thomas Child and Family Center, American Red Cross, Montana School for the Deaf Blind Foundation, Easter Seals-Goodwill, the Salvation Army, Great Falls Children's Receiving Home, YWCA Mercy Home, Great Falls Community Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, Union Bethel AME Church, Shodair Children's Hospital and Triumph Baptist Church, received equal donations."
