Oldest Man Native Born Dies Today
Thomas Nowels died at his home in Garfield township at 6 o'clock this morning, September 20, 1935, aged 86 years, from infirmities of advanced age.
He was the son of Mr. & Mrs. [Mary] Moses Nowels and is believed to be the oldest resident born in Mahaska County.
Surviving him are two sons, Frank of Hollywood, Calif., and John, of Wheatridge, Colo.
Funeral services at St. Mary's Catholic church at 9 o'clock Saturday morning, with Rev. W.E. Cullinan, St. Mary's priest, in charge.
Burial in St. Mary's cemetery.
