Helen Annette Elder, age 86 of Sevierville, departed this earth to join her heavenly Father on Saturday, December 2, 2017.

She was one of four children born to J. Hal and Hattie Trammell Elder. Helen was a proud graduate of the University of Tennessee and spent her entire life dedicated to educating children. After doing her student teaching in Sevierville, Helen moved to Florida and taught in both public and private schools in the St. Petersburg area for over 30 years. She loved being able to share learning experiences and stories with children through crafts and handiwork that could be taken home and displayed. Moving back home to Tennessee for her retirement, Helen shared a home with her brother Charley, and their beloved dogs Nikki and Ollie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J. Hal, Sr. and Hattie Elder; sister, Dorothy Catlett; brothers, J. Hal Elder, Jr and Charley Trammell Elder; and niece, Jane Maze.

Survivors: Nephews: John III, Steven, and Joseph Elder; Nieces: Barbara Sutton, Sandra Bartlett, and Susan Hayes, along with their spouses and children. Her family passes our deepest appreciation and thanks to the folks at Pigeon Forge Rehab and to Rebecca Arwood for their friendship, love and care.

Family and friends will meet 10 AM Friday in Alder Branch Cemetery for graveside service and interment.

Arrangements by Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
