Funeral services for Vernon B. Heath, 83, of Dallas, are set for 11 a.m. today at the Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel. He died Sunday morning at a Greenville residence.

Rev. Robert Ridley will officiate and entombment will be in Hillcrest Mausoleum in Dallas.

He was born Aug. 8, 1900 in Commetce to John Bruce and Ollie Ward Heath. He married Alma S. Thurman in Hunt County. The World War I Army veteran was a retired carpenter and a member of the Methodist faith. He was the past Exalted Ruler of the Dallas Elks Lodge and past commander of the Commerce American Legion post.

Survivors include his wife, of Dallas; two sons, Vernon B. Heath Jr. of Houston and Jerry Heath of Dallas; two daughters, Mrs. Bill Pemberton of Greenville and Mrs. Athalea Akridge of Lufkin; a brother, Harold Heath of Hilltop; a sister, Mrs. Mary Wheeler of Winter Park, Fla.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
