Archie McClellan Pounds, Jr. passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at his home in Broken Arrow with his loving family by his side. He was 76. Born March 24, 1941 in Chandler, Archie was the of Opal (Earp) and Archie Pounds, Sr.

He was raised in Chandler and graduated high school in 1959. After graduation, Archie served our country in the United States Army through the years of 1959 to 1966. During this time he married the love of his life, Joy Lynne Pounds on April 28, 1961 in Odessa, Texas. They were introduced through family friends at church camp and got to enjoy over 52 years of marriage together. After serving in the Army he started a new career for himself and became CFO and part-owner of Dayspring Behavioral Health Services. During this time he was also employed at Duncan Equipment Company for numerous years.

New Spring Family Church in Jenks was a big part of Archie’s life where he enjoyed fellowshipping and being a part of their motorcycle group, Life Riders. His motorcycle was his pride and joy and he loved taking it out on the road for a cruise. Archie was always trying to fix something. Whether it was something in the home or an old car or motorcycle he had in the garage. Tinkering was a hobby for him. He also enjoyed fishing at the Keystone and Roaring River. Archie loved to make people laugh, he will be remembered as a fun-loving person.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Joy Lynne Pounds and his parents, Opal (Earp) Pounds and Archie Pounds, Sr.

Survivors include his daughters, LeGaye Young, Judith Dowd and her husband, John; grandchildren, Wesley Young and his wife, Elizabeth, Adam Young and his wife, Whitney, Anna Kyonda and her husband, Peter, Justin Dowd and his wife, Macrae, Jason Dowd and his wife, Nataly; and great grandchildren, Kipling, Britta and Milo. He is also survived by his sister, Gerry Robideaux and her husband, Sammy and brother, Wayne Pounds and his wife, Nana.

A celebration of life will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, December 4, 2017 at New Springs Family Church with Pastor Greb Ables officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Chandler, Oklahoma.
