Joseph "Joe" Franklin Abernathy, 73, of Mirror Lake Road, died Sept. 2, 2002.
Interment will follow in Gaston Memorial Park.
Born in Belmont, he was an Air National Guard, U.S. Army, Korean Conflict veteran. At church he was involved with the adult Sunday school class, served as former Deacon, and chair on the Deacon and Elder Boards.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Marie Holcomb Abernathy; and two sisters, Dalphia Abernathy Carr of Gastonia and Ruth Lucille A. Tevepaugh of Bessemer City.
