Donald K. Ross, 82, passed away on November 28, 2017.

Born in Vernal, Utah on October 18, 1935, he was the son of Sylvan Don and Catherine Mott Ross.

He moved with his family at a very young age to the Orem, Utah area.

He married Alberta Wilmott of Springville, Utah in the Manti LDS Temple on November 18, 1954, in Manti, Sanpete, Utah.

Two sons and two daughters were born to this family: Alayne Ross (Nick) Barnard of Moreland, Idaho; Darrell K. (Jan) Ross of Tremonton, Utah; and Terry D. (Marjorie) of Willard, Utah; and Peret Ross Gross (David) Kilgore of Hardin, Montana; with a total of 23 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren.

Don was always a self-motivator. He received his Utah Barbers License after graduating from high school from the Utah Barber College in Salt Lake City in 1955.

He was self-taught in the printing profession where he and Alberta operated The Blanding Outlook Newspaper, while also manager of the Blanding Airport in Blanding, Utah. His life was dedicated to the professions of both the barbering and flying worlds.

He attended Ross School of Aviation at Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was Chief Flight Instructor and Charter Pilot for Southwestern Skyways at the Ogden Airport, Ogden, Utah and Flight Instructor and Flight Department Manager at T.A. Bouck School of Flying at Woods Cross, Utah.

He was First Officer for Zantop Airlines at Detroit, Michigan. He flew for many years as Company Pilot for Thiokol Corporation and obtained his Airline Transport Rating. He spent many hours as a Professional Flight Instructor including Instrument Flight Instructor. His hours in the sky were many thousands.

Don owned and operated the Ross Barber Shop and the D.K. Ross Saw Sharpening business in Ogden, Utah prior to coming to Willard, Utah where he owned and operated the Ross Barber and Style Shop. He was one of the ‘Good Ole Barbers’.

He owned and operated the D.K. Ross and Sons Greenhouse Tomato Business in Hooper, Utah for several years. He received an honorary discharge from the Utah National Guard.

Donald held various positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including Ward Clerk, Elders Quorum Presidency, Sunday School President, High Priest Advisor, Home Teacher, and a teacher for the youth programs. He was always a supporter of the Scouting and Missionary programs. He was a member of the Tremonton Fairview 1st Ward.

Don is survived by his wife, Alberta; a sister, Sherlean Ross Norman (Kay) Stone of Lehi, Utah; and a brother, Marvin L. (Georgina) Ross from Salt Lake City, Utah; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents, a granddaughter, Shaylee Ross; and a great-grandson, Slater D. Ross.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Willard City Cemetery, 600 North Main, Willard, UT 84340.
