Mrs. R. L. Owen [Vesta Catherine Atherton] died at home in Princeton, Caldwell Co., KY, Thursday, July 4, 1929 after suffering a long illness from influenza. Mrs. Owen was a native of McLean Co., KY and the daughter of A. J. Atherton and Susan Atherton. She married R. L. Owen [Robert Lee Owen] November 18, 1890. The Owen family came to Princeton in 1918 from Henderson, KY and have been active members of the Princeton community ever since.
She is survived by her husband, R. L. Owen; daughters, Mrs. J. W. Morris; Miss Hallie L. Owen; Miss Merle C. Owen, and granddaughter Eleane Morris. The funeral service will be held Sunday, July 7, 1929 at the Baptist Church, Rev. O. M. Shultz officiating. (abstracted by Margaret O. Parsons)
