Alva was born October 6, 1936, in Braymer, MO. He is the son of the late Harvey S and the late Ruby M (McNelly) Finley. He married Daveita K Arbuckle on July 29, 1960, in Stet, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his wife, Daveita K (Arbuckle) Finley on June 5, 2016.
Alva had many hobbies and interests. He loved hunting and fishing and almost anything outdoors. He could often be seen riding his bicycle or running. He enjoyed the social aspects that came with camping, riding pontoon, traveling, and “driving mom’s golf cart”; basically, anything that involved mingling with people. Above all, his family will remember him, first and foremost as a dedicated husband, and a great dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa.
He is survived by two sons: Steve (Regina) Finley of Liberty, MO and Randy (Joyce) Finley of Orrick, MO; one sister: Mary Sue (Bob, deceased) Willis; and two brothers: Otto (Claudine, deceased) Finley and John (Barb) Finley; sister-in-law: Barb Finley (wife of George Finley, deceased). He also has six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife of 55 years, Alva was preceded in death by his brother, George Finley, brother-in-law, Bob Willis, sister-in-law, Claudine Finley, and granddaughter, Laura Finley (daughter of Randy and Joyce).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718, www.cancer.org.
