Phillip B. Parkinson, 62, passed away on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23, 2017, in the early morning hours. Phillip was born Nov. 14, 1955, in Rexburg, Idaho. Phillip was a much anticipated and wanted child, born to Preston H. and Norma A. Beesley Parkinson.
Phillip grew up in Rexburg, where he had many boyhood adventures with his sisters, older brother and friends. Phillip truly loved the outdoors, dirt, animals and being with his family as a boy. Phillip attended schools in Rexburg, graduating from Madison High School in 1974.
Phillip had an engineering mind and could fix things mechanical and electrical and design anything he might need to complete the task. Having come from a multi-generational farming family, Phillip had everything "dirt" and "John Deere Green" running thru his blood. He loved the land and farming and was a very honorable, sensitive, hardworking man. Later in his life, Phillip studied Emergency Medicine and Firefighting and was a 17-year veteran of the Madison County EMS/Fire Department. As an EMT/Firefighter he learned service to his fellow man and had some fun with his newly found "brothers." Phillip had wanted to be Ski Patrol as he had a love of snorkel skiing, mountaineering, sky diving and flying planes.
Phillip was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a high priest at the time of his death.
Phillip married his sweetheart, Dayna A Kelley, in 1998, in Pocatello, Idaho. Born to this union was Brooke Noelani Parkinson, who is his beautiful princess. He was sealed to his family in the Rexburg Idaho Temple in 2010.
At the end of Phillip's life he had many health struggles, and he fought very hard to remain with us, but the Lord called him home Thanksgiving Day to be with his other family on the other side of the veil.
He is survived by his wife, Dayna; daughter, Brooke; sisters, Christine (Mike) Wheiler and Sara Knapp; and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by both parents; his grandparents; his brother, Rick; and a niece, Andrea Wheiler.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, at the Rexburg East Stake with Bishop Rex Fullmer officiating. The family will receive friends 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at Flamm Funeral Home and again from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Sugar City Cemetery with EMS/Firefighter rites.
Finally, the family would like to thank Dr. Steven Lofgran, the University of Utah Hospital Live and Transplant Program physicians and nurses for their many years of care, and finally Patricia Voorhes for allowing us a shoulder to cry on.
