Louise Hatch Atkinson

Louise Hatch Atkinson, 80 years old, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away in the loving company of family on November 27, 2017 in West Jordan, Utah. Louise was born in Salt Lake City on April 17, 1937, the daughter of Ivan and Dora Hatch of Bountiful, Utah.

She attended school in Davis County. Louise met Harvey Jay Atkinson at the Utah State Fair. They were married on June 10, 1955. Their union was later solemnized in the Jordan Valley Temple. They have set an admirable example to all in their 62 years of marriage.

Louise was a member of the LDS church and served in many callings where she made special bonds with friends and neighbors. Louise, along with her sisters-in-law were members of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She enjoyed learning about her ancestry. She was devoted to her family and supported them in all they did. She was a cowboy’s wife and the mother of cowboys. Many of the family’s memorable outings were at rodeos. She was known for her delicious baked goods and great meals. She tried to pass these special talents on to her daughters.

Louise and Harvey are the parents of five children; Chris (Jim) Jacketta, John Atkinson (deceased), Jim (Jill) Parker, Robert (Patty) Atkinson and Sally Druce. She is fondly remembered by 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Louise is preceded in death by her parents, son John, brother Steve, sister Georgie, and sister Bonnie Hier. She is survived by her husband Harvey and brother Dan Hatch.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 2:00 PM, Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 S Redwood Rd, W. Jordan, UT, with a viewing one hour before. An additional viewing will be held Friday, December 1, 2017 5:00-7:00PM.

The family would like to thank the special staff at Cascades at Riverwalk and CNS Hospice for their care, comfort and compassion.
