Almira Dodds was the daughter of Sam and Laura (Ostrem) Askelson. She was a lifetime resident of Story County, attended Gilbert High School, and Iowa State Teachers College, and Iowa State College. She taught in Gilbert Consolidated School, and Huxley Consolidated School and later became assistant to the clerk of municipal court in Ames.
On Sept. 5, 1937, she married Edward E. Dodds in Story City. He preceded her in death in November 1985.
Survivors include one sister, Olive Peterson of Story City; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; one foster brother, one sister, and one niece.
