Gerald Cecil Dennis, 70, of Antlers, passed away at home with family by his side on Monday, November 27, 2017. He was predeceased by his parents, Fannie and Cecil Dennis, to whom he was born on July 27, 1947, in Stockton, CA.
After serving with distinction as a U.S. Army officer in Vietnam, he attended OCU Law School and partnered with Jim Branam to form the Dennis & Branam Law Firm where they practiced law for 42 years. He served in the Oklahoma State Senate representing Senate District 5 for two terms, 1980-1988. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Rhonda; sons Michael Dennis and wife Beth of Durant, and Zachary Clancy of New York; daughter Katy Davis and husband Mike of Durant; grandchildren Samuel and Kira Dennis; sister Marcia Chastain of Grand Prarie, TX and her daughters Lindsay, Melissa, and Kari; brother James Dennis of Antlers; and other great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Antlers High School Auditorium at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 1st, 2017 with interment following at Stephens Cemetery in Clayton, Oklahoma.
