Z. S. Buckler, for many years an employe of the adjutant general's office of the War Department, died yesterday at his home, 1832 9th street northwest, of heart failure. ...

Mr. Buckler was born in St. Marys' county, Maryland, December 13, 1837, and married Miss Susan J. McGinley of York county Pennsylvania, February 25, 1862. He and his wife celebrated their golden wedding in this city last February.

Mr. Buckler served in the Union army, enlisting in the 10th Maryland Volunteer Infantry, formerly the old "Baltimore City Guard," and on being mustered out of the military service obtained a position as a clerk in the office of the paymaster general of the army, in which he became a chief of section, and served therein until transferred to the record and pension office, that office subsequently becoming a branch of the adjutant general's office of the War Department.

He was a member of Hamline Methodist Episcopal Church and of St. John Lodge, No. 11, of the Masonic fraternity. His wife, Mrs. Susan J. Buckler, and six children survive him. His children are Rev. George Buckler of Virginia, C. Howard Buckler, chief of the registry division of the Washington post office; Frederick W. Buckler of this city, henry Buckler of new York city, Mrs. William Seeley of Newark, N.J. Sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive him. The great-grandchildren are the children of Dr. and Mrs. Watson W. Eldridge of Biltmore street, Washington.
