HEMINGWAY — Mrs. Eva Tanner Pope Avant, 79, died Sunday at a Georgetown hospital after a long illness.
Born in Johnsonville, she was a daughter of the late Robert W. and Mattie Eaddy Tanner.
Surviving are four sons, Irby T. Pope, Wayne and Johnny Avant of Hemingway and Joseph W. Pope of Moncks Corner; three daughters, Mrs. Leslie (Alvilda) Russ and Mrs. Hugh (Olene) Avant of Hemingway and Mrs. Lloyd (Myrtle) Goude of Georgetown; eight brothers, Admiral, Zacheous, Victor B, Harvey and Wister Tanner of Hemingway, Hassie Tanner of Camden and Arnie and Ralph Tanner of Winnsboro; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. today at the Center Baptist Church.
