"Esther M. Polen, age 96, of Canton, died Saturday evening in Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. She was born on Nov. 8, 1906, in Salinesville {sic}, OH and had resided in the Canton area most of her life. She graduated in 1924 from McKinley High School and was employed for 15 years as a sales clerk for the former Kobacher Department Store. Mrs. Polen was an active member of the Canton Baptist Temple and Ambassador Class. She was also a member of the Jolly 60's and McKinley High School Alumni Assoc. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold F. Polen in 1988; her daughter, Polly Young on May 14, 2002; her parents, William and Cora Allmon; brother, John Allmon; sister, Margaret Allmon. Mrs. Polen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law... grandchildren... 24 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and Rev. Delaney Young, of Canton, the husband of her late daughter. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Canton Baptist Temple with Rev. Delaney Young officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Calling hours will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday at the Canton Baptist Temple. Arrangements by the Reed Funeral Home."
