Elzie was born in Crandall, Texas, February 12, 1931, daughter of the late Arel and Mary Spain.
One of Elzie’s many passions was writing. Her writing career started in advertisement writer for the El Paso Times/Herald Post, Lewisville News-Advertiser and Irving News. She also was office manager for Addressograph/Multigraph and at Brookhaven College.
Elzie was blessed with a very full life of traveling all through Europe with her husband, Dennis Moon. They lived a total of ten years in England, Italy, Germany, Africa and Portugal. With all the interesting travel and wonderful experiences, Elzie was inspired, and with her great imagination she decided to try her hand at writing novels. Her novels were Beads, Amethyst, Clean Break, and Gampu’s Miracle. Writing was her channel of self-expression, she was truly absorbed in the stories she was writing and related to her characters!
Elzie had a stroke in 2010, which left her with numerous life style challenges, but she never gave up. One of her strongest virtues was her determination and will to always move forward, never giving in to adversity. All the while, her loving husband, Dennis was by her side every step of the way.
Elzie was an avid reader of novels, self-improvement, and health and wellness books. She was a strong believer in metaphysics and the spiritual world. Both influences guided her on her path through life with positive thinking.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years, Dennis Moon, who took great patience and care of her during their life together and especially during the hardship of her illness. Also survived by, son, Terry (Doris) Miller, daughter, Nancy (Bob) Tastle, granddaughters, Shanna (Chad) Kinsman, Stephanie (Mike) Buis, grandsons, David Miller, Jeremy (Tanya) Kinton and five grandchildren, Kristina, Bryce, Travis, Jaylin and Becket
