Obituary

Joseph Charles Woods was born near Little Rock, Arkansas on May 19, 1874. Passed away at his home in Visalia, CA Oct. 16, 1947. As a boy of 6 he lost his Mother and was reared as an Orphan. Feb. 24, 1900 he was married to Judith Ault, and to that Marriage was born 8 sons and 6 daughters. He moved to Blackfoot, Idaho in 1908 where he joined the Latter Day Saints Church in 1910. Moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1916 where he dealt in buying and selling land, farming and carpenter work. From 1922 to 1929 he was a carpenter in South Gate, CA. From 1929 to 1931 he farmed in Tulare, CA. Then moved to Visalia, CA where he worked at the carpenter trade until his health broke. He was up and did some work until his death. Was faithful to his Religion to the end. He was willing and did many kind deeds for his friends in need, and was greatly loved by his Family and many Friends.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Judith Woods, 4 sons, Robert J. Woods, Alma Otto Woods, James C. Woods, of Visalia. Samuel Paul Woods of New York City. Three daughters, Mrs. Iva Ballinger, Mrs. Ruth Wilcox of Visalia, Mrs. Marie Shelton of Los Angeles. A half Brother John Harper of Arkansas, a Step Brother Jett Harper of Tulare. Also 21 grand children and 1 great grand son.
