Frederick James Andreasen (Fred) 81, passed away October 24, 2017 at his home in Brigham City, Utah from cancer. He was born July 29, 1936 in Burley, Idaho the son of Jens Elmer Andreasen and Mabel Blanche Hansen. Fred grew up in View, Idaho and graduated from Burley High School in 1954. After High School he enlisted in the Air Force and served four years. He attended Ricks College and graduated from BYU in 1962. A week after Fred & Kathy graduated from BYU in 1962 they were married in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. During their married life the couple lived in Anchorage, Alaska; Trona, California; Sunset, Utah; and 50 years in Brigham City, Utah. Fred is survived by his wife Katherine (Kathy) and their five children: Vicki (Wayd) White, St George, Utah; Roger (Stacey) Andreasen, Columbia, Missouri; Roy (Lorraine) Andreasen, Corinne, Utah; Cindy (Troy) Jones, Saratoga Springs, Utah; and Mark (Amy) Andreasen, Powell, Wyoming; 35 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; one brother Rodney (Karen) Andreasen, a brother-in-law Curtis Durfee. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Loraine Anderson and her husband Gerald and Mary Lou Durfee.
After Fred retired from ATK (Thiokol) in 1999, he and Kathy served a mission for the LDS Church in the Florida Tallahassee Mission. Fred served in various positions in the LDS Church including scoutmaster, Seventy and High Priest Group Leaders, Bishop’s counselor, Bishop, Temple ordinance worker and Home Teacher. He and Kathy both received the BSA Silver Beaver award. Fred enjoyed the outdoors especially camping, hunting, and fishing with his family. A perfect day for Fred was a day spent hunting with his sons and/or grandsons. He was also a Hunter Education instructor for the State of Utah.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 30, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the LDS Church, 650 Anderson Drive, Brigham City, UT.
Viewings will be Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, UT and on Monday from 12:00 to 12:40 p.m. at the Church.
Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery with Military Honors Accorded by the Combined Veterans from Box Elder County.
