KENYON -- The funeral for Ida C. Stenhaug will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Vang Lutheran Church in rural Dennison, with the Rev. Gerry Gengenbach officiating. Burial will be at Vang Lutheran Cemetery.
Mrs. Stenhaug, 97, of Dennison, died Saturday (June 28, 1998) in the Dilly Unit of Northfield Hospital.
Ida Christine Berge was born April 26, 1901, in Warsaw Township, Goodhue County. After completing teachers training she taught in country schools. On Nov. 22, 1924, she married John C. Stenhaug at her parents' home. They farmed until his death on Oct. 17, 1965. She was lifelong member of Vang Lutheran Church and was its oldest living member. The church played an important role in her life. She lived in Warsaw Township all her life until entering the Dilly Unit nine weeks ago. Mrs. Stenhaug enjoyed quilting, flowers, watching birds and wildlife, jigsaw puzzles and watching baseball.
Survivors include three sons, Joel and Ray, both of Dennison, and Donald of Mendota Heights, Minn.; five grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Hanson Funeral Home in Kenyon and one hour prior to service Tuesday at the church.
