Mrs. Katherine “Kitty” Dreyer, 90, of LaPorte, died Monday, Sept. 18, 2006, at 4 p.m. at Fountainview Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, LaPorte. She was born July 9, 1916, in North Judson to Floyd and Stella Fry, and had lived in the LaPorte area most of her life.
Mrs. Dreyer had been a foster mother to more than 1,000 babies. She had many talents, including singing, playing the piano and being an exceptional seamstress. She was a very loving mother and grandmother. In LaPorte she married Chester J. Dreyer, who died Oct. 13, 2005. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, John; three sisters; and two brothers. Surviving are twin daughters, Kathleen (Warren) Attar of LaPorte and Arleen (Kent) Reese of Plymouth; one son, Thomas of LaPorte; nine grandchildren, Mary Attar Gaines, Michael Beiter, Michelle Sommers, Maria Lemert, Joe and Steve Attar, and Jason, Nathen and Mat Dreyer; 15 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ed Fry of Augusta, Ga. The funeral will be Thursday at noon at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Rev. Ian Williams officiating. Friends may call Thursday from 9 a.m. to the service. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City. Memorial contributions may be made to Fountainview Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 1900 Andrew Ave., LaPorte, IN 46350.
